The main specificity of personal data (PD) processing in the gaming industry is the large number of underage gamers. Experts point out the need to ensure maximum security of their personal information, but there is no corresponding legislative regulation in Russia yet. Will the transfer of PD of underage users to Russian identification services meet privacy requirements - in the material RSpectr .
CAUTION, CHILDREN!
The Commission of the Council of Legislators of the Council of the Federation and the State Duma on information policy, information technology and investment proposed developing a content writing service system for identifying users of computer games. Developers of games that are available on the territory of the Russian Federation may establish a requirement for identifying gamers through the Russian systems "Sber ID" and "Yandex ID".
Some online games promote the cult of violence and cruelty, extremist and terrorist activity, contain obscene language, false information and pornography, Ernest Raevsky, managing partner of GetMiner, noted in a conversation with RSpectr.

A significant portion of gamers are minors, and it is very important to identify game users in order to protect the immature psyche of children and adolescents from unwanted information.
Identification can help protect them from inappropriate content, but the flip side of this will be a violation of privacy, believes IT expert Sergei Neironov.
At the same time, minors do not have full rights to manage their data - in order to use it for authentication and identification in games, the mandatory consent of parents or legal representatives is required, he explained to RSpectr.
Mikhail Pimenov, Director of Development of the Gaming Industry Department at Synergy University and author of the books Our Game and The Game and the World, reminded RSpectr of the standard global practice of age-based marking of computer games:
North American ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) – serves as a recommendation for distributors to users under 17-18 years of age;
European PEGI (Pan European Game Information) – until recently, it was used in Russia, but with minor adjustments;
German USK (Entertainment Software Self-Regulation Body).
Mikhail Pimenov, Synergy University:
– Russia has its own RARS (Russian Age Rating System), which was introduced on September 1, 2012, after Federal Law No. 436 “On the Protection of Children from Information Harmful to Their Health and Development” came into force. It applies to all information materials.
According to Russian legislation, the classification of gaming products is carried out by the game manufacturer or its distributor. State bodies can analyze the game at their own discretion or at the request of the public, the expert noted.
SOMETHING IS MISSING
Data operators accumulate significant amounts of information about their users, including minors: full names, nicknames, email addresses, mobile phone numbers, IP addresses, payment transaction data. In total, such information often becomes a business subject and is successfully monetized, Lyudmila Kurovskaya, director of the Center for Legal Assistance to Citizens in the Digital Environment of the Main Radio Frequency Spectrum, told RSpectr.
